KOTA KINABALU: Assistance for victims of the recent King Tide in Tanjung Aru have been sent out by Parti Warisan Sabah in the absence of aid from the GRS government.

Tanjung Aru Assemblyman Datuk Junz Wong on Thursday said, a dozen families have been unfortunately displaced by the King Tide phenomena last week.

“It is a disaster. Some are homeless and placed in temporary shelters.”

“Floor boards were washed away, electrical appliances, sofa sets and household equipment were soaked in sea water.”

Junz said occupants of nine houses have received help so far.

“For the first batch of supplies, Warisan will be sending wood, nail, zinc and other building equipment to nine of the affected houses.”

“We want to help the occupants raise the level of the houses to avoid another similar situation from recurring.”

“After this first batch, another will arrive soon.”

Junz who is also Warisan Vice President urged GRS to act fast.

“I want to urge GRS to act immediately to release funds to help Sabahans who need help.”

“Don’t just come out to ask for votes or buy votes during election.”

Junz lamented, Warisan leaders are working tirelessly despite having zero funds.

“Warisan is trying our best to help constituents and Sabahans in general, despite being in the opposition and with zero funds.”

“GRS has millions of ADUN (Assemblymen) funds, they have the entire government machinery and manpower. Where is the UPPM?”

“GRS has RM5.2 billion revenue and they should have acted much faster and with much efficiency. Why the hesitation?”

To the end, Junz blasted the GRS administration for failing in their duties.

“Come out of your comfortable offices to help the people now! Stop sleeping on the job!”
